Coordinator of Wraparound Services (Job Code: CWS)

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Wraparound Services at The Guidance Center, Inc. (GCI) are a state-of-the-art, innovative approach to collaborating with high-risk families to foster change and growth and to reduce the instance of out of home placement.  The Family Advocacy Stabilization and Support Team (FASST) at GCI has been a model program in the Cambridge-Somerville area for the past nine years and has a 85% success rate in maintaining children coping with severe mental illness in their family homes with the aid of community supports.  FASST has compiled significant data over the years regarding the impact of the implementation of our clinical model on families, and we have presented our data to local and state agencies as well as national conferences.

The Family Intensive Reunification and Stabilization Team (FIRST) is the first of its kind, a program funded by the Department of Social Services in the Cambridge-Somerville area.  FIRST was designed to significantly reduce or eliminate the amount of time children spend in out of home placement by partnering with families and community providers to divert placement or accelerate the reunification process. Both FIRST and FASST clinicians work in collaboration with the family to identify needs for ongoing support and develop a creative safety net of natural and professional supports for the family to maintain stable functioning.

Family Based Services (FBS) is a home-based strengths family treatment model, designed to work with families who are involved with the Department of Social Services.  The service model works to meet families where they are, and to support them through intensive clinical case management and advocacy.  These strengths based model assists families in building on existing family strengths, from the development of the treatment plans to implementation so that families are able to provide a safe and nurturing home environment for their children.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Coordinator of Wraparound Services will be responsible for managing the clinical and administrative functions of the Family Advocacy Stabilization and Support Team (FASST) and the Family Intensive Reunification and Stabilization Team (FIRST) at The Guidance Center, Inc.  The Coordinator will supervise the front line staff of clinicians and family support workers.  The position requires 24-hour on-call back-up rotation for staff carrying a front-line beeper for clinical emergencies.  The Coordinator may also be responsible for providing direct service to families, as needed.  These direct services may include co-therapy in family sessions.  Computer skills are also necessary.  Part of the Coordinator’s duties will involve compiling and maintaining a database of program outcomes, demographics and service utilization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Master’s Degree and licensure in Social Work or related field and at least 5 years of post-Master’s level experience in providing home-based family therapy and wraparound services.  Prior supervisory experience is required as well as demonstrated leadership capabilities.  Creativity and flexibility are strongly desired.
